Discover the magic of the twilight hour in this beautiful stage adaptation of Tim Hopgood’s book WOW! It’s Night-time.

The curious little owl is back, and this time she’s ready to discover the wonders of night-time, from the big, bright moon to the bats in the sky and the foxes deep in the forest. But where are all the other owls? When the wind blows the leaves from her tree, you’ll soon see…

Age guidance

WOW! It’s Night-time is aimed at ages 2-5.

Our shows for this age group are lively but gentle, with simple stories and appealing characters. Small children are kept engaged with visual wonders and effective use of music and language.

How will we be seated?

This show has standard theatre seating – rows of benches facing the stage. There will be up to 90 people watching the show (sometimes more if you come when there are school groups).

Can children join in?

This isn’t an interactive show, but we welcome vocal responses from young audiences, and there are a few points in the show where everyone is invited to contribute by making noises or answering the performer. The audience stay in their seats while watching the show, but you can leave and re-enter the auditorium at any time.

Is there anything that might be scary?

This is a show about night time so the theatre is quite dark throughout, and gets darker for some scenes, with some puppets and parts of the set glowing in the dark. There is also a storm scene with some thunder and lightning, blowing wind and shadows of bats. Some children may feel apprehensive, but you can reassure them that all the night animals are very friendly

Should I bring a child under two?

All ages are welcome at our shows and age ranges can only be a rough guide, but please bear in mind that WOW! Said the Owl was not specially designed for babies and toddlers. A show recommended from under age two would usually have more relaxed seating, smaller audience numbers and strong sensory and interactive elements.

What can I use to prepare my child or help decide if the show is right for them?

The show is based on the book WOW! It’s Night-time by Tim Hopgood. You can buy the book from us here
