Working with Foam: Make a Simple Moving Mouth Puppet

Duration: 10am - 5pm
Join us for an exciting hands-on two day workshop with Designer and Maker Naomi Oppenheim where you’ll learn the techniques needed to craft your very own simple moving-mouth puppet using foam and fabric. From basic foam construction techniques to creative fabric manipulation, you’ll leave with the skills to design a unique character, whether you’re drawn to the charm of traditional Muppet-style puppetry or the intrigue of more experimental, realistic designs.
About the tutor: Naomi Oppenheim
Naomi is a puppet and object designer and maker with more than ten years’ experience. She works in a wide variety of materials, but has a particular interest in the possibilities offered by fabrics and soft materials to create engaging characters. Her work includes puppets for the Little Angel productions: Prince Charming and The Flying Bath, and she recently worked with the Little Angel to create a puppet for Alex Lockwood’s short documentary film By A Thread. She often collaborates with Theatre-Rites: There is Something in the Air, Zoe’s Peculiar Journey Through Time, Siyanda, Protector of Plants, The Welcoming Party, Beasty Baby. Other credits include: The Ocean at the End of the Lane (National Theatre), Around the World in 80 Days (Theatre by the Lake), The Tailor of Gloucester (Salisbury Playhouse), Mughal Miniatures (Sonia Sabri Company), and toooB (Angel Exit Theatre) and Melody Loses her Mojo (20 Stories High).
