The Little Prince
A Lyngo Theatre Production
Aimed at ages 5-11
‘Has a sheep on a star eaten a rose?’ If that sounds silly then you might be like the King and the Business-Man on their lonely asteroids, forgetting that the most important things can only be understood with the heart.
The Little Prince is here to remind us that real truth is invisible to the eyes in Lyngo’s new collaboration with Norwich Puppet Theatre. Through mesmerising puppetry and beautiful original music the boy who fell to earth teaches his friend the Aviator about love, life and real happiness in this adaptation of one of the best-selling children’s books of all time.
Age Guidance
The Little Prince is aimed at ages 5-11. Our shows for this age group have storylines that can be followed by children from around age 5. They work for a wide age range and there will be elements to engage the older children, and adults, in the audience, for example music, puppetry techniques, more complex ideas, language or humour. Children under the recommended age can often enjoy the visuals but may not follow everything, and may not stay engaged. If the show contains any parts likely to be scary or upsetting for anyone, these will be mentioned in the FAQ below.
This show has standard seating for our studios. There are rows with chairs and soft blocks facing the stage, and some mats on the floor at the front. There will be up to 60 people watching the show.
This isn’t an interactive show, but we always welcome vocal responses from young audiences. The audience stay in their seats while watching, but you can leave and re-enter the auditorium at any time.
In the story the little prince is bitten by the snake and so returns to his planet leaving his body behind and this is depicted on stage in a very soft and gentle way. The actor playing the prince then returns at the end.
The show is based on the book of the same name by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
About the Company
LYNGO is a UK based children’s theatre company with strong Italian connections. Our shows have delighted children and adults for over 15 years with their unique mix of fun and beautiful imagery, working magically together to reveal the vivid poetic realm that is at the heart of our work. Their trademark features are a singular visual flair, an inventive use of props -beautifully designed and hand-made ‘theatre toys’- and an interactive and genuine approach to play, no matter the age of our audience. Lyngo has currently on offer a repertoire of end-on shows for older children and in-the-round interactive shows for very young audiences.
