“‘The Bed’ is inventive and cosy and welcoming and difficult to leave, as enticing as a duvet on a chilly morning”
Time Out

Most Beds are Beds for sleeping and resting, but the best Beds are much more interesting!

Curl up and get comfy for a bedtime story like no other. Let us take you on a journey sprinkled with fantasy and escapism, where you will meet elephants, macaws and parakeets. Venture underwater, to the North Pole and even outer space without ever leaving the comfort of your own bed. Beds come in all shapes and sizes, from cots to king-sized, and some you might never have heard of before – see if you can discover them all along the way.

This enchanting poem by Sylvia Plath, written for her own children, is brought to life in a special show for babies and toddlers.

Age guidance:

The Bed is aimed at toddlers aged 18 months – 3 years. The simple poem imagining all the magical things a bed could be is shared with the audience by a solo performer. The show is multisensory, exploring different worlds, from underwater in a submarine bed, to space in a rocket bed, each with its unique soundscape. Toddlers are kept engaged through the sensory experience and familiar settings.

For children under 18 months we recommend the baby version of the show, which has a smaller capacity to create a more intimate and calm environment for the very young.
