Matthew’s Puppet Film Club – Team America: World Police

Presented by Little Angel Theatre

A monthly film night curated by artist and puppet maker Matthew Robins (Flyboy).

Team America: World Police (2004)
Thursday 11 July, 7.30pm
Location: Theatre

In 2004 South Park (and Book of Mormon) creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker released Team America: World Police . . . a film entirely performed by marionettes (actually even better than that, they are supermarionettes, you know – like a Thunderbird). It’s the USA and a paramilitary police force are attempting to save the world from Kim Jong-Il and his bid for global destruction.

The BBFC gave it a 15 rating due to “strong language, violence, sex, all involving puppets” so what other reasons do you need to come and see this film? That and a singing Kim Jong-Il marionette.

This film is rated 15.

Each month Matthew will be screening a different film, handpicked and featuring his favourite onscreen puppets. From well-known films featuring, let’s say, Gremlins or The Muppets, to more obscure films and cult rarities.

Not only is there a film, but each month there will be other (themed) ways to get involved including (but not always) made-up games or puppet bingo, competitive audience craft, special guests or live performances, puppet disco and maybe some prizes. Each month will be different!

There will be a bar and snacks, as well as specially homemade merchandise and souvenirs for you to buy or maybe even win.

This event is suitable for everyone over the age of 15.
