Told through the universal language of gesture, Baggage is a sweet and silly puppetry film that wordlessly tells a story of friendship, belonging, and the complex feelings attached to leaving and finding home while retaining personal identity.
Combining hand and shadow puppetry, as well as new greetings devised by participants at Phosphorus Theatre, Baggage is a touching film that shows how even when we feel at our most alone, help is always at hand.

‘Noise’ is a puppetry short film entirely made out of recycled materials that explores the early struggles of TCKs through the medium of instruments.
Reuben is 10 years old and his world is turned upside down when he and his mom suddenly move to a completely new country. Feeling like a fish out of water, Reuben withdraws and struggles in his new class where he doesn’t understand the language.
How will he overcome his new fears and homesickness?

‘Home Is Where The Food Is’ explores the directors lived experience of moving to the UK and the things she left behind – friends, family, and food. Through learning how to cook Filipino meals she has learnt that home is never really far away.

Rivers World
A Welcome Project Digital Short commission by Chicken Shop Hermits in Association with Little Angel Theatre
When River and their parents suddenly move to the UK, River finds themselves overwhelmed by the new environment and the arguments between Mum and Dad. Using their vivid imagination, River manages to hide in the wonderful universe their mind creates. However, as Stress Snakes invade River’s World, River has to make both their internal and external world welcoming places again, and Sage, a new friend they make in London, might just be the key.

Over the past 60 years, a huge range of designers have brought their unique puppet designs to life on the Little Angel Theatre stage – from marionettes in Angelo to light-up foxes in WOW! It’s Night-Time and cardboard creations in the online adaptation of I Want My Hat Back. In this new online series, Little Angel’s very own Little Angel puppet will meet and interview these designers, including Toby Olié, Jimmy Grimes and Alison Alexander, finding out more about their experiences of puppetry design and why they love working in the field. Each designer will also bring along an easy puppet make that children can follow along at home.
