The world’s been sad since Tuesday, the child has a fever and is hotter than a fish on a spit.
The dog chases its tail, Mother dreams of a new broom and Father gazes out to sea. The whole village is on the brink.
Then the sky gets frisky, the sea rears up and, in a bolt of lightning, a very old man with enormous wings crashes to earth in a flurry of feathers. Nothing will ever be the same again!
Inspired by Gabriel García Márquez’s story this is a startling world of ruined beauty and magic reality where everyone dreams of their five minutes of fame and riches, and the extraordinary takes flight.

When Handa and her friend Akeyo go looking for Grandma’s black hen Mondi, they find two fluttery butterflies round the hen house, three stripy mice under the grain store, four little lizards behind the pots… But where is Mondi?
Based on the book by Eileen Browne, this beautiful and engaging show features 55 stunning puppets all created by hand. Join in with Handa and Akeyo as they sing and dance in search of Mondi, meeting a host of colourful animals and birds as they go.

Travel to Kenya and follow in Handa’s footsteps as she journeys to see her best friend Akeyo, in the next village. Handa is taking seven delicious fruits as a surprise – but seven different animals have seven very different ideas… could you resist the sweet-smelling guava? A blend of physical performance, puppetry, live music and song combine to create an intimate, magical production with audience participation.

The world is a very big place, especially for a tiny baby penguin who is just finding his feet. The shimmering stars and glistening snow spin around our little hero, while the mountains tower high and the wind rushes to and fro. And although baby penguin may be small his family know he’s the biggest thing of all.
This early years favourite is a lovely and touching story about a parent and their love for their child by much loved children’s author Emma Dodd.

A long time ago, one disgruntled fairy cast a spell that sent the whole world into a spin…
This adaptation of the story of Briar Rose by the Brothers Grimm, conjures a dreamlike fantasy of palaces and forests, ogres and fairies, princes and babes. It tells the story of a King and Queen desperate for a child, and a fairy who grants their wish. But when the fairy is not invited to their new baby Rose’s christening she casts a different kind of spell – that on her 16th birthday, the young princess will prick her finger and everyone in the kingdom will fall asleep for 100 years. Only the arrival of a prince from the Far East brings hope of an awakening.
This bold production uses puppetry, imaginative video projections, automata and live music to weave an irresistibly magical storytelling experience.

It’s been a long day for Dad and he can hardly keep his eyes open. All he wants is for Baby to go to sleep so he can catch up on a little shut-eye too.
Dad’s usually got some tricks up his sleeve to help send Baby off to the Land of Nod. But tonight, Baby has other ideas…
As soon as Dad’s out of the way, Baby gets his hands on the magic top hat, and when his friend Rabbit shows up the fun and games really begin!
Mix in some magic, a pinch of circus and a large dollop of silliness and you have the recipe for a little adventure with a lot of laughs!

Join Miranda’s daughter as she discovers for herself Ariel, Caliban and the wonders of the ‘isle full of noises’, just like her Mum did many years ago. Written by former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen and directed by Artistic Director Peter Glanville, The Magician’s Daughter is a gentle and humorous story suitable for children aged 3+.

Did you ever go to Silversands
On a sunny summer’s day?
Then perhaps you saw the mermaid
Who sang in the deep blue bay.
One day, the singing mermaid is tempted away from all of her sea creature friends and her peaceful home at Silversands to join a travelling circus. The audiences love to hear her sing, but the poor mermaid was tricked! Instead of the swimming pool she was promised, she is kept in a small tank by the wicked circus master Sam Sly, and she soon longs to return to the freedom of the sea.
Will she ever escape? And who will help her along the way?
Through beautiful puppetry and performance, and with music by Barb Jungr (We’re Going On A Bear Hunt), Little Angel Theatre collaborate once again with Royal & Derngate (Moominsummer Madness, 2014), to bring Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks’s enormously popular story, The Singing Mermaid, to life.
