YOUTH BOARD RECRUITMENT PACK

About Little Angel Theatre

Little Angel Theatre is a home for puppetry. Since its doors first opened in 1961 the theatre has been dedicated to creating and sharing inspiring stories. Puppetry is at the heart of this innovative theatre, from igniting the imaginations of the youngest minds to equipping tomorrow’s puppeteers with the tools they need to succeed. As well as an internationally recognised theatre with productions touring throughout the UK and across the globe, Little Angel Theatre also has its roots in Islington, and works with its local, diverse community to break down barriers to arts engagement so all can benefit and enjoy this remarkable art form.

THE ROLE

The Youth Board is a new project at Little Angel, created to help uncover the world of working in a theatre – the roles that exist and provide genuine insight into the careers of the theatre, through gaining first-hand experience.

The Youth Board will begin by exploring the Little Angel Theatre organisation – who we are and what we do across all of the departments, paying particular attention to the roles that young people may not know about or have encountered previously. This will be experienced through interactive sessions – hearing first hand from the people currently in the roles as well as trying out aspects of this job in both hypothetical and real life situations (further down the line of the project).

Once the group have learnt the basics we will look at working with you to implement some of the skills/work areas that you are most interested in. This may be by planning a workshop or event; contributing to real Little Angel outputs or working to devise or create your own piece of work. Depending on the interests across the group this may be one or multiple end products.

Running throughout the programme, we will work with you in each session to get you arts work ready. Part of this will involve preparing you to achieve Arts Award accreditation, and also preparing you for employment through practical skill acquisition such as CV writing, work experience but also interpersonal and interview skills.
