Samantha Lane joins Little Angel Theatre as Artistic Director / Producer
Little Angel Theatre is delighted to announce the appointment of their new Artistic Director / Producer, who also takes up the position of Chief Executive. Samantha Lane will take on the role from 15th June 2015.
Samantha’s 17 year career thus far spans both the world of education and the world of theatre. She is currently Director of Projects at the Almeida Theatre, as well as being an Education Associate for the Michael Grandage Company. Almeida Projects is the Creative Learning department at the Almeida. She is responsible for the strategic vision of the Almeida’s work for young people, and she manages a team of 5 full time staff who support the delivery of this work. At the Michael Grandage Company, Samantha co-devised and delivered an education programme to support the company’s inaugural season in the West End. Samantha also managed the education department of the Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch. As a Freelance Director, Project Manager and Facilitator, Samantha has worked for a number of arts organisations, in the UK, Canada and Singapore, working with a wide age range of people, from age 7 to 70!
Samantha has directed and devised numerous plays with both adults and young casts. She has also written a large number of resource packs to accompany theatre productions at both the Queen’s Theatre and the Almeida Theatre, all including a combination of context material and practical activities. She is author of Directing Theatre with Young People: A Guide to Staging Plays with Young Casts.

I have been a huge fan of the theatre’s work for many years, seeing numerous fantastic shows myself and bringing my children to see the great shows that they produce for families. I look forward to continuing to programme and produce excellent work for everyone who comes to the theatre, and to leading the organisation into its next exciting phase.”

Samantha joins Little Angel Theatre at a busy and exciting time. Little Angel Theatre produces 4-5 shows a year, tours extensively throughout the UK and internationally, and hosts several visiting companies annually. They play to over 70,000 each year in-house and on tour. Over 5,000 people take part in their education and participation programme each year and they run many professional and artistic development schemes. In the last month they launched their new Creative Learning Centre, Little Angel Studios, and opened two new productions, to play in-house and on tour.
