The excitement is palpable as the new term, and indeed the new year, of courses and classes are about to kick off at Little Angel Theatre.  And this is like no ordinary school year.  This year is REALLY special… for this is the year that we transfer all our activities in to our new centre – the Little Angel Studios.

We are so excited to be able to deliver all our training and education activities under one roof, instead of having to hire space in local church halls and community centres, wheeling our resources from space to space in shopping trolleys and suitcases.  Don’t get me wrong, we have had a fabulous time over the years and we have made some great relationships with caretakers and cleaners in church halls along the way, but this is different.  This is like buying a flat for the first time, after renting for years, and being able to do what you like to make it your own.  To this end we have been working hard to set up our new space, the Little Angel Studios, to be able to welcome you along to our new programme of work.

We have a diverse training programme lined up for adults, which covers all things puppetry-related for adults from beginner level to expert.  There are courses most evenings, where you attend over a term, to learn more about puppetry and build friendships with like-minded people.  We also hold specialist courses at the weekends so you can boost your skills in an intensive day of training. Our one day courses are great if you’re coming from out of town and your time is limited.

For younger puppetry enthusiasts or hobbyists, we have an equally exciting range of activities.  These include Crafty Kids for our smallest artists aged from 2 and up, where they’ll get to make something different every week with their parents and carers.  We also have fabulous puppet clubs, such as our Saturday Puppet Club, running weekly for budding puppeteers aged between 5 and 11, in these sessions puppets are designed, made and then presented in a performance at the end of term.

Graduates from Saturday Puppet Club then move on to Little Angel Youth Theatre.  This is the UK’s most unique youth theatre, where participants work with professional puppeteers over 2 terms to devise a production from scratch.  This year they will use the Little Angel’s production of Jabberwocky as their inspiration, using their skills and expertise to bring a new slant to the classic Lewis Carrol poem.

I could go on… but this is enough for now.  There are still a few places left on some of the courses mentioned, as well as our half-term programme for kids, which I haven’t even revealed to you yet!  Our regular courses open this week so please contact our box office on 0207 2261787 to make a booking. We’ll look forward to welcoming you into our new second home very soon.
