Little Angel Youth Theatre (11-18)
Summer Term 2018 – booking now open
Wednesday 2 May – Wednesday 11 July (with a half term break on Wed 30 May)
6pm – 8pm
The term includes a show visit to Sleeping Beauty in the Wood on Saturday 30 June at 2pm.
Working with a professional team and led by director Stephanie Withers, youth theatre members will focus on making puppets this term.
Each participant will create a sitting puppet which can be operated by a single performer. This type of rod puppet is ideal for storytelling, solo performances or combining puppetry with actors onstage. It’s easy to transport and versatile for use in festivals, comedy routines, musical performance, or cabaret. It features a hard sculpted head, foam body, and jointed arms. With the puppet’s legs draped over the performer’s arm, the head can be moved with a rod inside the head, and the puppet’s hands can gesture via rods at the elbows.
£45 per person per term/ £35 concessions. Bookings for full price places can be made in person at the theatre or over the phone on 0207 2261787.
The weekly sessions take place at Little Angel Studios a few minutes walk from the theatre. Click here to see a map.
Concession bookings must be made in person at the theatre. Our Box Office is open seven days a week from 10am – 5pm. Please bring the relevant documentation with you. Call ahead to check availability of places on the course you want to book (0207 226 1787).
Please note we cannot reserve places on courses or in classes, so book early to avoid disappointment. Follow this link for further information regarding concession eligibility: Concessions declaration form
It’s Not the End of the World: Below
Working with professional puppetry directors and makers, youth theatre members make puppets, learn puppetry performance skills and make a show once a year. The next production is called It’s Not the End of the World: Below and will be taking place on 23 March at 7.30pm and 24 March at 5.30pm.
The venue for the performance is The Pauline Quirke Academy, PQA Studios (formerly known as The Poor School) 242 Pentonville Road, London N1 9JY. Tickets can be booked through this link: It’s Not the End of the World: Above & Below

Youth Theatre Past Productions and Testimonials
Our Youth Theatre have created several highly acclaimed puppetry productions: Macbeth: The One Half World in 2014, followed by 2015’s stunning version of The Jabberwocky (revived in October 2015 for Suspense Festival), and in 2016 an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel Frankenstein, all directed by Oliver Hymans. In March 2017 they presented Nutshell, a group-devised piece directed by Polly Beestone.
“The final performances were extremely professional. We have been very impressed by the level of professionalism and dedication shown by all those involved”. Parent 2015
