Puppetry Training For Teachers, Community Workers and Workshop Leaders
Teaching Light and Shadow using Shadow Puppets
Thursday 18th October:
4.15pm – 6.30pm
This informative session will provide you with all the knowledge you need to explore light and shadow using the medium of shadow puppets! You will learn how to make a variety of shadow puppets using different methods with links to how you can use them to explore how shadows are made and to explain transparent, translucent and opaque properties. This is a great way to use cross curricular links to teach both science and art with beautiful outcomes. At this time of year shadow puppetry is also a fantastic opportunity to tell seasonal stories involving light such as the Ramayana, bonfire night and Christmas.
This workshop is suitable for anyone who works with children or young people and is interested in learning how to make a variety of shadow puppets that can be made or used by the children they work with.
As part of the process you will make your own puppets and learn the skills and methods for making the design with children, along with top tips for using this puppet in an educational setting.
Along with anything you have made participants will also be given notes/an instruction sheet to take away.
