DIY Shadow Shows: Make Your Own Shadow Puppets
with Matthew Robins
About the Course
Over two days you will be gently guided into creating your own shadow puppets and shadow-based projections using a variety of materials and techniques.
Using his own shows as a starting point, Matthew will demonstrate various ways to make paper cut-out shadow puppets and scenery, as well as experimenting with objects and lights to explore the process of creating abstract imagery and colour projections. These will be used as starting points to make your own shadow puppet stories to take away and impress your friends or colleagues.
No experience is necessary – just a can-do attitude. This two-day workshop is suitable for beginners of all ages as well as artists with more experience in shadow puppetry who might want to develop some work they’ve already started or explore new techniques to add to their shows.
About the Tutor
While you are asleep at night Matthew is awake drawing pictures of crocodiles or cutting bits out of Barbra Streisand records to make her sing his name. Matthew is an artist and musician from the West Country. Matthew writes songs, makes animations and puppets and performs live shows with his band!
